EIROforum publishes new statement on the future EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10).
EIROforum, the alliance gathering nine of Europe’s leading intergovernmental research organisations, has published a new statement on the future EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10), welcoming the European Commission’s proposal and its ambition to strengthen Europe’s scientific and technological leadership, resilience, and competitiveness.
In the statement, EIROforum underlines the importance of a strong, stand-alone, and excellence-driven FP10, with a substantial and predictable budget commensurate with its ambitions. The proposed €175 billion budget should be regarded as a strict minimum.
The statement highlights four key priorities for FP10: sustained support for scientific excellence and frontier research, stronger investment in research infrastructures, clear governance and complementarity between FP10 and the European Competitiveness Fund, and an open and stable framework for international collaboration with trusted partners and associated countries.
EIROforum also stresses that safeguarding scientific freedom and maintaining openness to sharing talent and knowledge are essential to Europe’s long-term leadership in research and innovation.
