At the European Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS), on Saturday 16 September, 12 young Scientists were honored with eight Special Donated Prizes sponsored by EIROforum. EUCYS is a student science fair in the European Union, showcasing remarkable scientific achievements of students from across the EU and beyond. This year’s event, hosted in Brussels, brought together exceptionally talented students aged from 14 to 20 years.

An international jury selected 12 core prizes awarded by the European Commission alongside several honorary awards and Special Donated prizes, including the eight prizes sponsored by EIROforum.

The eight Special Donated Prizes by EIROforum are bestowed upon contestants who – according to the jury – would benefit from the specific experiences theses prizes offer. The prizes offer the opportunity for winners to spend up to one week at one of the EIROforum member organisations. During the stay, the recipients have the extraordinary chance to familiarize themselves with world-class research facilities, cutting-edge experiments and explore state-of-the-art instrumentation.

Prof. Robert Feidenhans’l, the current Chairman of EIROforum and Managing Director of European XFEL, expresses his congratulations to all the winners and participants. “The promotion and motivation of young scientists are among the most crucial prerequisites for successfully addressing the significant social and scientific challenges that Europe and the world face. I am delighted that EIROforum can contribute not only through the substantial engagement of our members but also with the framework of EUCYS. I extend my best wishes to all the winners for an interesting, successful and motivating experience during their stay at our member organisations,” Feidenhans’l says.
