ESO at the UN

February 2009 - As a permanent observer, ESO participated in the 46th session of the United Nations Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (8-20 February 2009). Among the issues discussed was activities during the International Year of Astronomy (IYA) 2009, in which ESO plays a major role together with the International Astronomical Union and UNESCO. Other topics included global activities to detect Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) as well as various space missions.
